Chain goes for fingerprints

Busy Bees, the UK's largest nursery chain, is installing a 'fingerprint' entry system at all its nurseries. The nursery group has signed a £500,000 deal with UK Biometrics to install the technology across its 113 settings.

It costs around £4,000 to install the system, and Busy Bees has been testing it at 14 nurseries in the past year. Once a user's fingerprints are registered, the sensor pad scans 27 'minutiae' - key points on the fingerprint unique to the individual - and matches them up.
